YIN YANG For Men by lonnietaylor YIN YANG For Men by lonnietaylor
I went to the Castle Pub last night. I really wanted to get into the Mynt Ultralounge but Tiny Tim at the door didn't like my shoes. The music was pretty darn good. Some rock and blues. During the evening I met this really nice guy from SAIT named Grant. We got to talking and I brought up wanting to teach in Japan which totally lit up his eyes. Apparently he taught over there for a year. The conversation got really interesting at that point. Imagine an arm bulging football player type getting really excited and starting to list off some wicked Japanese cities and talking about how the sushi there is so much better. He even wrote out a list. Apparently the following places are really good.

  • Hokado - North island (more americans there?)

  • Hoashu

  • Kyushu - appently really good food

  • Okinawa - supposed to be really cultural

  • Shakoka - south island. very healthy people and good surf

  • So anyways... about the image. It certainly has been a while since I've done any photo manip work like this. Grant told me that the Japanese girls are going to be all over me because I have blond hair. So I've had sex on my brain all day (me man. me want woman). I wanted to create sort of a Tommy Hilfiger type "billboard" ad with some asian influence. Luckily I stumbled upon ~ArtastikGirl and her yummy stock photo found here. I liked it right away because it had that danger girl Kill Bill quality. I also used a photo from sxc.hu found here.

In this case I believe the Yin Yang concept is somewhat warped by creating opposite balance. Living on the edge balance if you will. So yah, I recognize there is conflicting theme but I think it works for this. I also hope that the it looks somewhat club culture inspired.

Anyhoo, just something to do for the day. Please feel free to leave some feedback.

That is quite cool. I dig it. I thought she was actually in that background.

That's awesome! I really like it a lot.. I really can't put my finger on what it is, but it's great.

Awesome. The manip feels delightfully unnatural, like at first glance it should work but upon further inspection it's not quite doing. This I like. I also like the monochrome, the font you used (what's it called? If I can get it free I will), and especially the girl. Great work.
